Partner

Tricia Knight is a partner and member of the firm’s tax team. Since joining the firm in 1978 and becoming partner in 1985, Tricia has focused on personal and business tax as well as financial and estate planning. She also provides litigation support and a full range of accounting services to closely-held businesses.

As an advocate for the accounting profession and the community, Tricia serves on the board of directors for several organizations, including the Charles Allis/Villa Terrace Art Museum, Wild Space Dance Company and the Wisconsin Trust Account Foundation. She volunteers on local and statewide committees such as the Practitioner Liaison Committee for the IRS and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, the Three Holy Women Catholic Parish Finance Committee and the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) Executive Finance and Federal Tax Committees. Tricia is also a past board member of the WICPA and is currently a member of Professional Dimensions.

In 2008, the WICPA honored Tricia with the WICPA Public Service Award for her public service work at the local, regional and state levels.  And in 2011, she received the WICPA Achievement Award in recognition for her outstanding accomplishments within the WICPA and/or the CPA profession.

She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting, summa cum laude, from St. Joseph’s College. Tricia is a member of the American, Wisconsin and Indiana Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. She enjoys traveling, visiting art museums, attending plays, and activities such as Jazz in the Park.

Andrew Holman, CPA

Partner

Andy Holman is a partner and member of the firm’s nonprofit and outsourcing teams. Since joining the firm in 1987 and becoming partner in 1993, Andy has focused on nonprofit audit and financial management.

In addition to his 30-plus years of nonprofit experience, Andy frequently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin — Milwaukee, teaching a graduate course in nonprofit accounting and financial management as part of the Helen Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management. In 2007, he co-presented on, “Informing Nonprofit Management via the Analysis of Key Financial Ratios,” at the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action’s annual conference.

In 2006, the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) awarded Andy the WICPA Public Service Award for his public service work at the local, regional and state levels.

Andy graduated from the University of Wisconsin — Milwaukee with bachelor degrees in business accounting and community education. He is a member of the American and Wisconsin Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and serves on boards such as the Friends of the Milwaukee Public Library and Be the Change. When he’s not working or volunteering, Andy enjoys traveling and nature photography. His photography is featured in RitzHolman CPAs’ marketing materials.

William Mayer, CPA

Partner

Bill Mayer is a partner and member of the firm’s tax team. Since joining the firm in 1985 and becoming partner in 2000, Bill has practiced in all areas of taxation, including corporate, partnerships, individuals, trusts and estates. His areas of concentration include advising closely-held businesses and their owners, new business start-ups, and professional services and construction firms. Bill also counsels individuals, fiduciaries and executors on trust, gift and estate matters.
           
As an extension to his commitment to his clients, Bill is actively involved in several community and professional organizations. He serves on the board of directors of the Jewish Home and Care Center where he is also the organization’s treasurer and chairperson of their Budget and Finance Committee.  Bill is also on the board of directors of both Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and Corporate Casual, Inc. He is a member of the Wisconsin Taxation Committee of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Tax Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Milwaukee Estate Planning Forum.  Bill also has taught middle school students about business through Junior Achievement. In addition to his volunteer time, Bill serves on the board of directors of various closely-held businesses and as trustee/executor for numerous trusts and estates.

Bill received his bachelor of business administration in accounting and marketing from the University of Wisconsin — Madison. He is a member of the American and Wisconsin Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and two daughters, as well as golfing, skiing, biking and reading.

Darci Middaugh, CPA

Partner

Darci Middaugh is a partner and member of the firm’s tax and outsourcing teams. Since joining the firm in 1989 and becoming partner in 2000, Darci has focused on providing personalized tax and consulting services to individuals and closely-held businesses. She works directly with her clients on issues such as tax compliance and planning, entity choice, retirement plan considerations and general business planning. She also performs audits of 401(k) plans and HUD and low-income housing tax credit properties.

Darci serves as a volunteer on the board of directors for Lifesong Legacy Fund, the Greater Menomonee Falls Committee and is the chair of the Greater Menomonee Falls Foundation. She is a member of TEMPO and has volunteered her time to the AIDS Resource Center’s annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin, Junior Achievement and Children’s Hospital. 

Darci has led presentations on payroll and income tax compliance and has served as an instructor at the University of Wisconsin — Milwaukee Small Business Development Center, where she taught courses on financial management to business owners and managers. 

Darci received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin — Platteville. She is a member of the American and Wisconsin Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. Married with two children adopted from Guatemala, Darci enjoys spending time with her family as well as gardening and vacationing in northern Wisconsin.

Katy Sommer, CPA

Partner

Katy Sommer is a partner and member of the firm’s nonprofit team. Since joining the firm in 1993 and becoming partner in 2002, Katy has focused on nonprofit audit and financial management. 

As a parent and an active community member, Katy serves on the board of directors for Milestones, Programs for Children, Wisconsin Women=Prosperity and the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network - Greater Milwaukee Chapter. She also volunteers her time to manage the intake and accounting of money for the AIDS Resource Center’s annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin.  Previously, Katy served as an instructor at the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee and was involved with Junior Achievement of Wisconsin, where she shared her experiences and provided economic education to students in grades K-12.

In 2008, Katy was named among Milwaukee’s emerging generation of leaders as one of The Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40,” which recognizes people who are making a difference in their professions and communities.

She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin — La Crosse. Katy is a member of the American and Wisconsin Institutes of Certified Public Accountants.

Matthew Rios, CPA

Partner

Matt Rios is a partner and member of the firm's tax and outsourcing teams. Since joining the firm in 1997 and becoming partner in 2010, Matt has focused his practice on providing tax and consulting services to closely-held businesses and entrepreneurs. In addition, he concentrates on the professional services and real estate industries, including performing audits of HUD and low-income housing tax credit properties. Matt, a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, also offers QuickBooks training and consulting to the firm's clients and employees.

As a supporter of community involvement, Matt serves as chair of the board of managers for the Southwest Y of Metropolitan Milwaukee. He also has taught business education programs to middle school students through Junior Achievement and served as an instructor at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Small Business Development Center, where he taught courses on financial management to business owners and managers.

Matt received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 1996. He is a member of the American and Wisconsin Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and the West Allis/West Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce. Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing golf and following his favorite sports team, the Miami Dolphins.

renee websiteRenee Messing, CPA

Principal

 Renee Messing is a principal and member of the firm’s nonprofit team. Renee joined the firm in February 2015. She adds more than 30 years of experience in providing auditing, consulting and accounting services to nonprofit organizations. Renee’s prior experience with large regional and national firms adds greater depth to RitzHolman CPA’s service to the nonprofit industry.

Her areas of concentration include social service and religious organizations, membership organizations, associations, and charter and choice and schools. Renee has performed numerous audits under Circular A-133 of the Single Audit Act and related Wisconsin State Single Audit Guidelines. She has experience in serving organizations of all sizes, from very small one person offices to organizations with assets or revenues in excess of $3.6 billion.

Renee serves as the treasurer and a member of the grant advisory committee of The Masterpiece Ltd. In addition, she is the secretary/treasurer of Riverwalk Plaza Condominium Association and serves as a member of the finance committee of the Wisconsin Club.

She is a member of the Wisconsin Institutes of Certified Public Accountants nonprofit task force. She has been a speaker at the annual nonprofit and health care continuing education conference several times. In addition, Renee has been a speaker at other conferences and provides internal continuing education classes for firm staff.

Renee received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in 1978. She is a member of the American and Wisconsin Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. In her leisure time, she enjoys automobile and motorcycle events.
